About Us
Your hosts are Huon and Fran Hassall and they will do their best to ensure that
you have a relaxed and enjoyable stay at Bingie by The Sea, [formerly known as
Wongaburra].
The property's natural vegetation was cleared about 40 years
ago for dairy and vegetable growing and when we moved here in 1991 it was
overgrown with wattle, blackberry and Bergalia tussock. Over the years we have eradicated the weeds
and planted over 5,000 trees (and still planting) in an endeavour to replace
the lost trees and create a wildlife corridor for native animals and birds
between the Coila lakeshore and the Eurobodalla
National Park .
We have a small herd of goats which were originally bred for meat production but are now just kept for weed control and our own chickens which provide fresh eggs for you every day.

Our other family members
Sam, our Australian Kelpie, came to us 'free to a good home' 10 years ago and has been a constant companion ever since. He is the boss of our household and, being a sheep dog by nature, his absolute favourite pastime is to herd the goats or sheep. He is very friendly and always has a warm welcome for visitors. He loves to accompany our guests on walks and show them 'his' property and can often be found sitting patiently by the BBQ waiting for something to fall his way. He can be as friendly as the guests want him and he respects and does not bother "non-dog" people.
